Feedback

Here are a few extracts from feedback we have received from recipient charities:

BRITISH WIRELESS FOR THE BLIND FUND, KENT

"Thank you for your generous donation. With the close contact we have with our recipients, we know how important a set provided by the Fund is to them. For many, particularly the housebound and elderly, it is their main link to the world outside."

RESPONSE COMMUNITY PROJECTS, LONDON

"Thank you for your support at short notice of the Garden Party which formed part of this year's Earl's Court Festival."

ARTS INTEREST GROUP, LONDON

"I am pleased to inform you that the grant you awarded us has been used for trips from Lambeth to the National Gallery where members attended a brief lecture before visiting the Caravaggio exhibition. One member recently wrote to us about the trip saying: "It was a wonderfully exciting day and the first time I'd been out for ages." Thank you so much for your support."

4 SIGHT, WEST SUSSEX

"It is with much pleasure that I am writing to thank you for the grant cheque we received. The money has been assigned to our Hassocks Contact Club in Haywards Heath which has around 25 regular members who meet fortnightly and have sight conditions ranging from loss of vision due to cataracts through to completely blind. They always have a hot lunch together and are able to enjoy external speakers, Braille dominoes or entertainment after lunch. I visited the club myself just before Christmas to deliver some gifts to the members and also to act as their "after dinner entertainment" by doing an hour of singing for them. They are an enthusiastic and spirited bunch, many of whom were acting as volunteers themselves within the club, serving lunch and putting away tables and chairs etc. despite their disability. They were thrilled to learn that they had been supported by you in this way."

MUSIC IN HOSPITALS, WALES

"We have reached a record number of older people in Wales this year and we are extremely grateful to the Trustees for their valuable contribution towards this achievement. The grant funded the full cost of two concerts and here is some feedback from the homes: "This was one of the best entertainments we have had at Hillside. The artist kept the audience enthralled through the show, remembering the names of residents and including all the audience to such an extent that by the end of the show even the quietest of clients were singing their hearts out!"

LEIGHTON HANDBELL RINGERS, MONTGOMERYSHIRE

"The Leighton Handbell Ringers had a very busy time before Christmas. We played mainly to elderly people at many different venues including Llanidloes, Trefeglwys, Bwlch-y-Cibau, Llangynog, Newtown, Llandrinio and Meifod. We have had so many compliments from our audiences. They must have enjoyed the entertainment. All the members of the team enjoy going to these events. Most of our members are elderly themselves, and they have become expert handbell ringers. So you can see, the special gloves your grant enabled us to purchase have been well used. Thank you for enabling us to buy them."
